philly beer weekend

Philly Beer Week 2010

"Philly Beer Week is right around the corner, but we understand there’s lots of thirsty folks out there who can’t wait that long," said Don Russell, a.k.a. Joe Sixpack of the Philadelphia Daily News and co-chair of Philly Beer Week. "So this year we’re throwing a quickie, with just a taste of the fun the city has enjoyed in the past two years."

Philly Beer Weekend will include:

March 13th - The Craft Beer Express - 8 great bars (Johnny Brenda's, Standard Tap, The Institute, Brauhaus Schmitz, The Kite and Key, Devil's Den, Jose Pistola's and Sidecar Bar) hosting must attend beer events from 11am until 7pm. Jump on the bus for $15 and ride it all day.

Sunday, March 14 – The sixth annual Brewer’s Plate, also at the University of Pennsylvania Museum. This beer lover’s favorite pairs dozens of locally brewed ales and lagers with dishes created by the region’s finest restaurants. Proceeds benefit Fair Food. More info: www.thebrewersplate.org.

Throughout the weekend, area taverns and restaurants will host dinners, tastings and other events focusing on Philadelphia’s rich beer culture.

Philly Beer Week – June 4 – 13, 2010 - is America’s biggest beer event of its kind, featuring more than 700 events and 100-plus venues throughout the region.

Feats of Strength & Weakness. Various brewery reps will compete in feats of strength (both physical and mental). Meanwhile their lowest-octane beer will compete in a feat of weakness to determine the best session beer.

And what major athletic contest doesn't feature beer and wagering? We, of course, will have loads of beer. We'll figure out some way to legally allow wagering on the feats of strength & weakness.
